Trainings
We provide leaders and activists with the cutting-edge skills and strategies needed to build political power. Each training is tailored to your real-world needs.
Through our trainings, participants:
- Learn a core idea or skill.
- Practice that skill with other training participants.
- Try it out for real in an actual campaign setting.
For instance, we teach why talking with voters one-on-one, face-to-face, about LGBT issues is a highly effective tool for persuading voters to stand with us. After teaching this idea, you'll practice these conversations with each other; finally, everyone goes out talking with voters face-to-face, door-to-door, usually for the very first time.
Most of our trainings focus on how to defeat anti-LGBT ballot measures, including, but not limited to, same-sex marriage.
Sharpen your skills and strategies.
- Power Summits [0] — Intensive electoral & leadership skills training (2–3 days)
- Electoral Organizing — Intensive training to help launch or elevate campaigns to defeat anti-LGBT or pass pro-LGBT initiatives (1–2 days)
- Fundraising — House party program curricula and ABCs of asking, including major donors, finance committee and phone bank fundraising
- Naming Our Destiny [0] — Intensive leadership development and skills training for people of color (2–3 days)
Key ideas and skills taught include:
- Strategy: How to develop your campaign plan
- Building our base: How to identify the voter base we need to win
- Building multiracial teams: How to build progressive alliances and action-oriented campaign partners across race, class and gender lines
- Message: What works and what doesn't; case studies from other winning and losing campaigns
