Leadership Awards
The Task Force’s Leadership Awards events, including the Miami Recognition Dinner, pay tribute to community leaders, allies and organizations that fight for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people through their leadership, advocacy and action.
Our 2009 New York Leadership Awards will take place on April 6 at the Kimmel Center at New York University. The D.C. Leadership Awards will take place at the National Museum for Women in the Arts on May 6. The Los Angeles Leadership Awards will be held on September 13, once again at the beautiful Beverly Hills Hotel and our Miami Recognition Dinner will take place at the newly renovated Fontainebleau on October 17. Past Leadership Award recipients include former South African President Nelson Mandela, the late Coretta Scott King, Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Ted Kennedy, Bishop Gene Robinson, director Gus Van Sant, film producer Bruce Cohen, actors Wilson Cruz, Alec Mapa, Sir Ian McKellan and Mathew St. Patrick, director John Waters, Julian Bond, comedian Margaret Cho, and the Indigo Girls, to name only a few.
