The Task Force’s National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change is the nation’s preeminent political, leadership and skills-building conference for the LGBT movement. During the past two decades, Creating Change has been the place where thousands of committed people have developed and honed their skills, celebrated victories, built community, and been inspired by visionaries of our and other movements for justice and equality.

Typically, between 2,000 and 3,000 people attend the Creating Change Conference from all over the United States and other countries. Attendees represent all sectors and demographic groups in our movement, including young and old activists, organizers and activists of color, paid and unpaid staff people at LGBT political or community organizations, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex advocates and straight allies, and leaders of campus communities. Creating Change is a national gathering of organizers and activists working to create a world in which our sexual orientations and gender expressions will be welcomed and celebrated.

At the 2008 Creating Change Conference – our 20th – the Task Force will celebrate 20 remarkable years of training activist leaders and nurturing community. To launch our third decade, we are moving the conference from the fall to early in the year, giving our movement the opportunity to prepare and set a proactive agenda following each election cycle. We will also be adding new and exciting elements to the conference, including more rigorous training and skills building for leaders at the state and local level.
