AARP and its office of Diversity and Inclusion
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is pleased and proud of our collaborative work with AARP, which is being honored for their partnership with the LGBT community. The Task Force played a major role in the development of the AARP June 2007 conference on Diversity and Aging. In addition, our staff joined together to present an overview of LGBT aging issues in housing to HUD staff. The Task Force also joined in the “Divided We Fail Campaign,” and delivered over 2000 pledge cards at our recent National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change conference. AARP is a significant employer of staff in the DC area and has been a long-standing nonprofit citizen of the district.
