Activist Story – Erin Norris

“In 2005, one of the most notorious anti-gay bigots in the country tried to overturn necessary anti-discrimination protections in Topeka, Kansas. The Task Force answered our call for help and together we defeated the Westboro Baptist Church and Fred Phelps in his own hometown. This victory has truly changed the way fair-minded Topekans feel about the city we call home. It helped inspire people across the state who came together and formed a new, unified statewide group, Kansas Equality Coalition, which is moving Kansas forward.”

Kansas Equality Coalition of Topeka, Inc.
