Chief Development Officer
David Alexander has been working in the nonprofit sector for nearly a decade and began his work specifically with the LGBT community in the mid-90s while volunteering with the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation monitoring and analyzing portrayals of the LGBT community in local media. Since that time he has volunteered and organized LGBT efforts throughout California, New York and Maine. In 2007 David took a position as National Major Gifts Officer with Lambda Legal, based in New York and after two years developing new markets of support for the organization and engaging numerous new corporate relationships, David took the position of Director of Institutional Giving with the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
In this current position David directs the organization’s relationships with its corporate and foundation funders. In his time so far at the Task Force David has renovated the organization’s corporate program, expanding the breadth and depth of existing and new relationships with the corporate sector. He has presented on LGBT issues and the work of the Task Force to dozens of companies including McDonald’s, IBM, Office Depot, General Mills, Best Buy, Accenture, Shell Oil, Inc., and Wells Fargo.
David has successfully built out a corporate program that extends beyond corporate sponsorships and provides intentional expertise to companies seeking to develop LGBT-positive policies and assisting as both liaison and advisor in effectively working with and engaging the LGBT community.
David has a degree in Journalism and a degree in International Relations from San Francisco State University.
