Alan T. Acosta is the associate vice president and director of university communications at Stanford University. Prior to that, he was the deputy city editor at the Los Angeles Times. He has served on the executive boards of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists' Association, the UC Santa Cruz Alumni Association and the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center. He lives with his longtime partner, Tom Gratz, in Stanford, Calif.
